Last Autumn we pledged to raise £10,000 to help the new Macmillan Cancer Unit at Lister Hospital, Stevenage. Through a combination of events, raffles, our coffee morning and gratuities, we were able to donate the first £5,000 at the end of November. With only three and a half months of 2014 to raise the remaining £5,000, we had a challenge on our hands. Through your wonderful generosity and your continued support on our recent cycling event, we reached our goal with just days to spare. Last week Sarah and Nigel were privileged to attend a preview of the new unit, and see the unveiling of the plaques dedicated to fundraisers (see the picture above). Head chemotherapy nurse, Mark Jones, gave a humbling speech thanking everyone from the bottom of his heart for making their dreams into a reality. We want to pass his heartfelt thanks on to you all, you cannot imagine how proud we are to have been involved in this project, and how proud we are of you all for making it happen.
Together, we’ve proved that a small business can make such a positive contribution to the local community. We’re already dreaming up our next fundraising challenge…
Warmest wishes from Sarah and all at Brewery Tea Room
