Brewery House has been privately owned for the last 26 years and the current owners, Sarah and Nigel, wished to preserve the heritage of the old Brewery. They have achieved this by opening up part of the house and turning it into the award winning The Brewery Tearooms, enabling others to share in its charm.
Nestled in rural Hertfordshire between Stevenage and Hertford, at the tearooms you will always find a warm welcome and a magical atmosphere. We are Walkern’s very own, multiple award winning, Tea Salon & Coffee Lounge.

Each morning our scones are freshly baked in the Brewery House kitchen along with other mouth-watering treats…towering toffee-coffee-fudge cake, super-sticky chocolate brownie, amazing apricot slice, marvellous meringues and LOTS more.
Nestled at the back of Brewery Tearooms is our gift shop, with hand painted furniture, twinkly jewellery, kitchenalia, and a whole lot more! …all sorts of beautiful treasure to take home with you.
Location
The Brewery Tea Rooms is situated in Walkern village, in rural Hertfordshire. Coming from Stevenage or the A1, you need to turn right just as you get into the village (if you reach Clarks Garage, you’ve gone too far!). The Brewery Tea Rooms is part of Brewery House which is opposite Walkern Primary School, there’s usually plenty of space to park on the road near the tea room.

Our offering
Offering you the finest loose leaf teas served in vintage china teacups or perhaps try our amazing freshly ground coffee – from smooth and silky cappuccinos to our exquisite banded lattes. We always have a wonderful selection of freshly home-baked cakes – tall towering Victoria sponges; colourful, sticky carrot cake; intense squishy chocolate brownies.
Our Afternoon High Teas are very popular and available, by pre-booking, for home delivery, collection or eating in our outside seating area. We hope to offer these inside after 17 May 2021.
There’s also a range of freshly prepared light lunches, a different menu each day magically appears on our pretty blackboard, offering you delights such as Summer Frittata, served with a selection of salad and coleslaw; Toasted Bagel with Smoked Salmon and Cream Cheese served with dill and mustard sauce; or maybe some Wild Mushroom Soup to warm you up on a blustery autumn day, served with a wedge of fresh seeded bread and butter.
All of our dishes are made to order using the finest ingredients and lots of lovely local produce.
