Re-Opening Update

As some of you will be aware, we have been operating a Home Delivery and Takeaway service since May, which is proving popular. The Government, however, has provided a date when Cafes can re-open their premises for visiting guests inside and out. Obviously, all businesses have their own considerations and for us health must come first. We have several older & vulnerable customers and our setting is unique. We must carefully consider the risks any operation can present to our customers, our team, and our family (our premises are part of our home). We are still amid a global Pandemic which is, sadly, growing.

Although we have every intention of opening our doors for inside seating, we will not rush into opening in this way. At this stage we are continuing with our Takeaway (via our Covid safe hatch & systems) and Home Delivery services (see posts and website for detail), which we are expanding as we go. Further, we will be returning our outside seating during July for those who wish to enjoy their takeaways, at a ‘safe distance’.

We will continue to monitor the development of the UK pandemic over the forthcoming weeks, and when we feel it is safe and there is an effective ‘test and trace’ system in place, we will consider opening our doors.

We will advise on the changes we have made to ensure we are ‘Covid Safe’ for inside seating in due course.

You will never know how much we miss our fully operational Tearooms and lovely customers. Although we have seen some of you through our new services over the past few weeks, it is not the same as hosting you in our unique premises. Despite our desperation to fully open our doors, health for all must come first. Rest assured we will ‘get there’ but need to exercise some caution and patience.

We treasure the support we receive and look forward to seeing you all soon. Don’t forget those takeaway and home delivery services, just call 01438 861930…x

It’s our Birthday!

11 years ago to the day, we opened our doors for the first time! We have had the most amazing journey and are missing you all very much. Of course, we have been able to see some of you via our Takeaway and Home Delivery Service, but it’s not quite the same as hosting you in our beautiful Tearoom.

It’s surreal to think we are having to consider when we will be opening our doors again! We have released the attached formal update, but in short feel it is just a bit early for us to open the doors. We are adapting the Tearooms for when we do, but we need to make sure it’s the right time for us all.

We will keep you updated and, in the meantime, continue with our Takeaway and Home Delivery services (see details under the relevant tabs), We will be putting our outside tables back in due course, so at least you can enjoy your takeaways at a table if you wish.

As always, if there is anything we can help with, just call us on 01438 861930.

Most importantly stay safe and hope to see you soon. x

‘Call & Collect’ and ‘Home Delivery’ 7 days a week…..

‘Call & Collect’ and ‘Home Delivery’ services.

We are pleased to announce we are currently offering our home delivery service and will be offering our ‘Call & Collect’ service as of Tuesday, 12 May.

To make an order for either service, please call us on 01438 861930 the day before. If we do not answer, just leave a message and we’ll call back asap as we are re-starting with a small team.

We will do our best to accommodate your needs, but we will be operating with strict time slots for both deliveries and collections. We will not be working with cash, but payments can be made by card or online at the time of ordering.

The premises will not be open, and we will only be able to serve by pre-order. Please do not attend the Tearooms if you have not pre-ordered.

We will be using our newly built delivery hatch to pass out the ‘Call & Collect’ orders. This will avoid any face to face contact. We will only be opening for limited periods and both services will evolve. We will always, both inside and out, work within Government Guidelines and social distancing rules. As part of these precautions we have fitted a hand sanitizer inside our lobby area for the use of customers utilising our collection service.

Everyone’s health is of primary importance, so please be prompt if you have booked a slot and please do not remain near the premises once you have collected your order. We have removed all outside seating and tables until it is deemed safe to re-instate them. Home deliveries will be made contactless.

We trust you understand our caution and will work with us gradually phasing back our precious family business. Should there be sufficient demand we will introduce a booking system on our website.

General details and pricing of the two services are attached. These will also be available on our website.

If in doubt, just call us!

Somewhere over the rainbow….

(Phase 1 of our reopening)

Dear Friends,

Thank you for all the lovely messages we’ve received while we’ve been closed. As always , your support and encouragement mean a lot to us. We’ve missed the sounds of your laughter and chatter in the Tearooms and can’t wait to see you all again, and hear all your stories of this unprecedented period.

As you will be aware, we’ve been constantly busy while closed and part of our work has been eagerly monitoring current guidelines and considering phases of re-opening. We are pleased to announce that it is our intention over the next few weeks to roll out a home delivery scheme and a take-away service, initially through pre-booking collection slots.

We are re-configuring the layout of the Tearooms to facilitate these new services and enable us, our team and customers to remain safe/operate at no additional risk. An example of this is a new serving hatch at the front of the Tearooms, through which we will be able to deliver pre-booked take-aways while maintaining social distancing and avoiding the need to enter the premises.

We will be monitoring the Government’s guidelines to be announced next week and post further detail of the first phase of our re-opening thereafter.

At this stage, we envisage our home delivery service will include Afternoon High Tea, home baked whole cakes, traybakes & our legendary scones. Our pre-bookable take-out service will initially offer teas and coffees (full selection from our extensive drinks menu ), freshly made scones and a choice of home baked cakes and traybakes.

It is our intention to develop the scope of our offering as we go. Further, we will involve more of our team as demand builds. We will not, however, compromise on safety and everyone’s health comes first. Our mantra from the beginning has been to do the ‘right thing’ and we continue with that in mind.

If you feel these services are of interest or you have any suggestions then please comment or message us, we would love to hear from you.

Take care and keep safe. x

Cakes for Champions – Appeal

image0 (7)

We are part of an initiative to supply treats to the NHS and help the staff get through their long shifts. We made our first supply last week and they were truly grateful. We have received many comments and messages of thanks; an example is above.

To help all three businesses involved in this, ‘not for profit’ project, cover the costs of the ingredients, we are launching an appeal and the link is listed below.

http://www.gofundme.com/cakes-for-champions

A number of you have shown an interest in donating and helping us keep this going for as long as the NHS need us, so a HUGE thank you for all the anticipated support. At the end of the project any surplus funds will be donated to NHS Covid-19 related causes.

Take care & stay safe.

Cake for Champions

Cakes for Champions

This week we have been working on a ‘not for profit’ project, in conjunction with one of our lovely customers and our favourite artisan baker, to help our NHS frontline staff.

During their long shifts the staff are limited to where they can take their breaks and are unable to use the normal food outlets in the hospital. We are, therefore, supplying treats such as brownies, our lovely fruit oaty slices etc.

The supply is a minimum order of 100 pieces, which will be supplied between us. These will be delivered by our lovely customer to the Lister Hospital today via their commercial hub.

We will continue this on a weekly basis for as long as the Health Service benefit from the treats.

It is thanks to all our customers and team that we can supply the treats for the next two to three weeks from existing stock, ingredients and via charity money previously collected.

We will be joined by other partners going forward and to help us all with the cost of ingredients in the weeks to come, we will be launching an appeal under the name of ‘Cakes for Champions’. Any surplus funds will be donated to a related local NHS COVID-19 charity appeal. We’ll release further detail in due course.

We’re so pleased that all of us are helping in some small way.

Stay safe. X
