As many of you will know we are heavily involved in charity initiatives. Not only do we support/holdevents, but our tips are regularly donated to good causes.
This year, one of our main charities is Pancreatic Cancer UK for which we are particularly keen to support the research into a simple home testing kit tohelp with early detection of this cruel disease.
One of our initiatives is to support the Stevenage Marathon (only held once every 10 years) and the half marathon, which are being held on Sunday, 20 October 2024. All proceeds from these events will be donated to Pancreatic Cancer UK and will be a substantial contribution.
The Tearooms have formed a small group of runners who will be running either the half or half marathon, along with several of us volunteering to helpmarshal/appeal for donations at the event.
Our appeal is for more volunteers, so if you, any of your friends or family wish to help and, thereby, contribute to this amazing charity please contact Nigel on 01438 861930 or mail – brewerytearooms@icloud.com
On 1 July, 15 years ago, we opened the newly painted doors of Brewery Tearooms & Gift Shop with absolutely no expectations of what was to come.
From humble beginnings, you’ve helped us to create a successful and thriving village business. One which has been nationally and locally recognised, with our walls decorated with numerous awards and accolades.
Most importantly the Tearooms & Gift Shop have become an integral part of the village and local community, providing a platform to raise thousands of pounds for local charities and good causes close to our heart.
Over the years, we have hosted a variety of events, including pop-up supper clubs, fashion shows, charity fundraisers, weekly French language classes, a knit and chat group and book launches.
Although the pandemic was a difficult time for all, we were still able to serve the local community and support the NHS through fundraisers and charity initiatives.
We’ve had our share of celebratory visitors and have twice been featured on television, selected for our charming ambiance. The Tearooms have even been used for film sets, with the proceeds donated to charity.
We’ve strived to make the Tearooms a welcoming and friendly place for all to enjoy, and we’ve had a wonderful time getting to know you and making new friends.
As well as thanking everyone who has visited and supported us over the last fifteen years, I would like to pay tribute to my loyal and long serving team who continue to make the business the success it is; thank you for becoming our ‘work family’.
Finally, I would like to pay a special tribute to my Mum, Mary, who is my inspiration and cooking tutor! At 93 years old, she’s unable to spend as much time baking for the Tearooms as she was up until a year or so ago. She is, however, still my inspiration and baking guru!
We look forward to seeing you all for many years to come.
