Feel the LOVE at Brewery Tea Room this Valentine’s Day

Valentines High Tea, Walkern, Hertfordshire at Brewery Tea Room

On Tuesday 10th February we will be re-opening our doors to welcome you into the warmth. We love these frosty mornings and bright, misty views across the Walkern fields, but can’t wait to be able to warm up with a freshly ground coffee, expertly crafted by our qualified baristas. Soon, you will be able to warm up with a cappuccino and a cheese scone; a loose leaf Darjeeling and a lemon drizzle or perhaps a bowl of home-made winter vegetable soup.

What better way to start the Brewery Tea Room new year than with a whole week to celebrate the people that we love.  In honour of St. Valentine’s Day, we are offering a Celebration High Tea. This includes a range of finger sandwiches, a selection of miniature cakes, freshly baked scones with jam and Cornish clotted cream, along with your choice of loose leaf tea (with vintage china teacup, of course!) or freshly ground coffee.  A Champagne Celebration High Tea is also available, including a glass of Champagne. So, don’t just spoil your spouse or feast with your fiancé – share the love with your friends, your Mum, your Aunty – celebrate with the people you care about this Valentine’s day. High tea is served by reservation, so please call us on 01438 861930 to arrange a booking.

We are looking forward to opening our doors again very soon.

With best wishes from Sarah and all at Brewery Tea Room

Christmas Closing on Saturday 20th December

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…

Brewery Tea Room Christmas

The Tea Room is smelling delicious with our warm mince tarts and a chocolate bouche de Noël, a spiced parsnip soup is bubbling in the kitchen and our gingerbread lattes are superb paired with a slice of toasted stollen. Christmas has definitely come to Brewery Tea Room and with just over two weeks to go before we close our doors, there is still time to step into our sparkley grotto of gifts, gorgeous decorations and beautiful homeware in the gift shop.

On Saturday 20th December, at the end of service, we will be closing our doors for the winter break. We will be re-opening on Tuesday 10th February and are already dreaming up a Valentine’s menu, to be announced in January.

Christmas Chorus and Candlelight on Tuesday 2nd December!

As our first festive evening was so popular we are pleased to announce a second event on Tuesday 2nd December.  The Walkern Players (many of whom you may recognise from the Tea Room!) are coming along to perform their selection of festive songs to put us all in the mood for Christmas. We will be serving mulled wine and mince pies along with cosy hot chocolate to fend off the wintery weather. The gift shop is brimming with unusual gifts and stocking fillers along with sparkling decorations. Come along from 6.30pm for an evening of Christmas chorus and candlelight at the Brewery Tea Room.

We’re Getting Festive on November 4th!

BT Xmas Preview 2014

The nights are drawing in and it’s got us thinking about cosy winter evenings, twinkling lights and spicy mulled wine. With the build up to the festive season approaching, it’s time to announce our Annual Christmas Preview Event. On Tuesday 4th November we will be opening the doors at 9.30am to a newly re-stocked and sparkly winter grotto of gorgeous gifts, seasonal home ware and beautiful decorations – and to celebrate this brand new season, we are opening into the evening to offer you Christmas canapés, candlelight and complimentary mulled wine to ease you into the festive spirit!

Please come along and enjoy a beautiful festive evening at Brewery Tea Room. There will also be the opportunity to support our on-going charity work by purchasing a Christmas Raffle Ticket helping to raise funds for the new-build Macmillan Cancer Unit at Lister Hospital.

We are looking forward to welcoming you into our winter wonderland!

Stop Press, Stop Press!

We’re so proud of you all, once again you’ve helped us raise a substantial sum for charity. Together, we’ve beaten all previous fundraising totals and are incredibly proud to announce that this year’s Macmillan Coffee Morning raised £3,744.51. A huge and heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported and contributed to our latest (and greatest!) event. You’re all marvellous!

Merci Beaucoup!

Ohh La La!!

We are delighted to announce that the fundraising total for our Macmillan event on   Friday 26th September raised over £3,200. We’re confident that we’ve exceeded last year’s total again…and will post the exact amount as soon as all totals have been finalised.

Your generosity was endless, from donating raffle prizes and purchasing raffle tickets to donating your unwanted gifts for our garden sale. Thank you to everyone who gave up their time to man stalls, sell raffle tickets and doing the washing up.

For those of you who couldn’t make it on the day, our theme this year was ‘French’, giving us all an excuse to dress up. Some of the attractions included a garden sale, silent auction, guess-the-mileage on a vintage 2CV, reflexology treatment, and wonderful cupcakes & cappuccinos.

We are truly delighted to have raised another very worthwhile sum of money which will be donated directly to the new specialist chemotherapy unit at the Lister Hospital. Thanks again to all our kind-hearted customers who supported the event and contributed to this worthwhile cause.

Macmillan Charity Event Friday 26th September

After a sunshine-filled August, we are now open again and have had a wonderful first week. Thank you for giving us such a lovely welcome back.

We are really excited to be hosting our annual Macmillan Charity Event on Friday 26th September. This year we will be raising funds for the chemotherapy suite in the Macmillan Cancer Centre at Lister Hospital. This event promises to be bigger and better than ever. Come along to the “French themed” event to find the garden open (weather permitting) and lots of lovely treats on offer – French themed dress optional (ooh la la!). There will be a chance to bid, in our silent auction, for a number of fantastic events including a golf day and tickets for a classical concert. The garden will host a range of stalls including bric-a-brac, pre-loved ladies clothes, books and produce. Our raffle is even more exciting than last year, with beauty treatments, magazine subscriptions, afternoon tea vouchers and many more wonderful prizes. We will also have a hand-made dress to be auctioned, an Avon cosmetics table and, of course, mountains of delicious cakes and scones!

We are welcoming donations of good quality bric-a-brac, un-opened cosmetics, good-quality ladies clothing and paperback books.

We hope you can join us on the 26th for what promises to be another great event. Come along and help us in our attempt to beat last year’s amazing total and join in the fun in support of the wonderful work of Macmillan in our community.

Re-opening Tuesday 2nd September

Re-open Summer 2014

With just a few days to go before our re-opening, we are happily working away in Brewery Tea Room to make it ready for your return. We can’t wait to turn the ovens back on and waft the delicious scent of freshly baked scones back into Walkern.

September brings with it our Macmillan Coffee Event on Friday 26th. We have some brilliant raffle prizes to be won and will be gratefully receiving donations of pre-loved clothing, books and bric-a-brac throughout September in anticipation of another brilliant fundraiser.

We can’t wait to open our doors next week and hear all of your stories of summer. With much love from Sarah and all at Brewery Tea Room

Summer Closing at Brewery Tea Room

Brewery Tea Room Summer

We will be closing for our annual Summer break after service on Saturday 2nd August. It has been a monumental year for us at the Tea Room; recognition in a national magazine, an award of excellence from TripAdvisor and record breaking charity donations. We recently celebrated our five year anniversary and could not have got this far without you, our valued customers and friends.

The Summer break will allow us to make sure the Tea Room is perfect for your return. Sarah will be out sourcing fabulous Christmas stock whilst we perfect new recipes and take the feather duster to the nooks and crannies!

Upon your return we will be pestering you for donations of goodies for our Macmillan Charity Event. Any good quality clothes, bric-a-brac and books will be graciously accepted during September in preparation for Friday 26th September when we will open our doors for our 6th annual Macmillan Coffee Morning, this year with a French theme – watch this space for more details. With your help, we hope to make it another fantastic fundraiser.

Thank you again for all your generosity and support over the past year. We are already looking forward to welcoming you back on Tuesday 2nd September. Wishing you all a wonderful Summer.

Brewery Tea Room Celebrates Five Fantastic Years!

Brewery Tea Rooms is FIVE!

Exactly 5 years ago, we opened the newly painted doors of Brewery Tea Room with absolutely no expectation of what was to come…

From humble beginnings, you’ve helped to create a successful and thriving village business, now Nationally recognised by a prestigious lifestyle magazine , with a newly acquired Certificate of Excellence from Trip Advisor. Most importantly the Tea Room has become an integral part of the village in Walkern and provided a platform to enable us to raise thousands of pounds for charities close to our hearts. Thanks to your generosity, the New Cancer Unit at the Lister Hospital has recently benefitted from a donation of £10,000, 00 as well as many thousands of pounds going to chosen charities over the past 5 years.

We’ve strived to make the Tea Room a welcoming and friendly place for all to enjoy, and we’ve had a wonderful time making new friends and getting to know you. We’re thoroughly looking forward to the next 5 years and just want to say a heartfelt Thank You, we couldn’t have done it without you.

Warm regards
Sarah and Nigel and all the team at Brewery Tea Room x
