A Roaring 1920’s Success!

Brewery Tea Room Macmillan 2015

Thank You to everyone who so kindly supported our sixth annual Macmillan Fundraising Day, last Friday 25th September, here at Brewery Tearooms.

For those of you who were unable to attend, it was a truly heartwarming day with fine weather for our 1920’s themed gala garden party.

Live jazz set the scene (so generously donated by George Howe – The Music Man) with flapper girls, ‘gatsby-suited gents’ and Victorian bathers all a feast for the eyes

The garden attractions included a giant bric-a-brac sale, bottle tombola, raffle, silent auction and ‘guess the mileage on the vintage sports car ‘. A steady stream of customers kept us busy all day and copious amounts of home-made cakes and scones were consumed.

Our ‘Best-dressed 1920’s outfit’ was a tie-break and there were many generous donations and lots of laughter.

In summary it was a fun-filled fundraising day and we are delighted to announce our total raised exceeds £3100.00, We are truly thankful to everyone who said ‘keep the change’, helped on the day, donated their time or a raffle prize, baked a cake, or generally supported the event. A special mention also to my wonderful staff who worked so hard before, during and afterwards and remained smiling throughout. Paul Gray who daringly sported a stripey Victorian bathing outfit (in case you didn’t recognise him on the day!) did a brilliant job on the raffle again.

Thanks again for helping to make our day a ‘roaring success’. The amount we raised will hopefully give comfort to someone suffering from cancer.

MACMILLAN COFFEE MORNING BREWERY TEA ROOM

This September, we are hosting our sixth annual Macmillan Fundraising Day at Brewery Tea Room, the theme will be “A 1920’s Summer” and, weather permitting, will be a fabulous garden party, filled with stalls of pre-loved clothing, bric-a-brac and books.Imagine Downton Abbey at the beach, a summer party with the Great Gatsby, don your straw boaters and crocheted swimwear, 1920’s summer dresses and parasols.  We will have beauty treatments in the summer-house and entertainment, to be announced, throughout the day. Of course we will be serving delicious home-baked cakes and scones, our usual selection of loose leaf teas and freshly ground coffees.

The past five years have been a huge success and have enabled us to raise over £20,000 for this fantastic charity that touches the lives of so many of us. We are committed to raising further funds for the Macmillan Centre at Lister Hospital and are calling on you, our wonderful customers and friends to help us in doing this.

We are in need of all sorts of donations, from bric-a-brac, good quality women’s clothing and paperbacks, to prizes for our Bottle Tombola (think lovely bubble bath and bottles of fizz!) We are also looking for some show-stopping raffle prizes  – how are your powers of persuasion, can you help us to get something fabulous?! If you would like to help on the day, we would love to welcome you to the Macmillan Day Team.

As always, we couldn’t do any of this without You, our generous and supportive friends. Here’s to another brilliant event, helping our community through our actions together. We can’t wait to have a fantastic day of costumes, coffee and cake and look forward to receiving any kind donations you are able to give to make this event another big success.

As you know, we are closed at the moment for our annual summer break, and are looking forward to welcoming you through our doors once again from Tuesday 1st September.

Re-Opening on Tuesday 1st September 2015 & Macmillan 2015
