Hertfordshire’s favourite Tearoom re-opens Tuesday, 24 January 2017!

Wishing a Happy New Year to all our friends and customers.  It was a momentous year for the Tearooms, collecting a second award in November. This time for ‘Outstanding Customer Service’, which you can read all about in the current edition of Hertfordshire Life.  The picture above was taken on a night out celebrating our win and you will see our certificate and plate proudly adorning our wall when you next come and visit.

The Christmas cobwebs and pine-needles have all been swept away and our coffee machine is polished and ready to get to work.  Our team are all looking forward to welcoming you back on Tuesday 24  January, just a couple of weeks before Valentine’s Day (booking details to follow). The Brewery kitchen is already in the swing of things, testing out some new winter-warming soup recipes, along with our favourite home-made cakes and scones.  Sarah and the shop fairies are currently busy at work, re-stocking our pretty gift shop and sourcing new ranges for the forthcoming Spring season.

Thank you to everyone who helped us raise lots of money for charity in our Christmas raffle and by supporting our lovely festive carol service.  Together we raised over £1,100,.oo which we are delighted to donate to Cancer Hair Care to help children and teenagers fighting cancer. Once again, the wonderful Stevenage Community Choir came along on the 22nd December and provided a fantastic carol service, all so generously donating their time.

We look forward to offering you a warm welcome in 2017.

A Three Day Fundraising Cowboy Bonanza

brewery-tearooms-team-wild-west-2016

Thank you to everyone who so kindly supported our seventh annual Macmillan Fundraiser over last weekend (Friday 30 September – Sunday 2 October).

For those of you who were unable to attend, it was a truly heart-warming day with plenty of cowboys, Indians, squaws and saloon girls participating in our ‘Wild-West’ themed weekend.

The garden attractions included a giant bric-a-brac sale, ‘panning for gold’ tombola, silent auction and raffle. A steady stream of customers filled the tearooms with laughter and copious amounts of scones, teas & coffees were consumed.

It was a fun filled day, setting the scene for our first charity bike ride on Sunday. Over 40 riders set off with a choice of two routes, 20km and 50km through the Hertfordshire countryside.

We are truly thankful to everyone who said ‘keep the change’, donated, helped over the three days, baked a cake or supported the event.

A special mention also to my wonderful staff who worked so hard before, during and afterwards, and smiled throughout. Paul Gray, a volunteer, once again did a fabulous job selling raffle tickets.

The combined total raised this year will exceed £5,000-00 and will be divided equally between Macmillan and Cancer Hair Care. The funds will, hopefully, help give comfort to someone suffering with cancer.

Thanks again, we couldn’t have done it without you….

Charity Weekend

This year is a little different as we will be fundraising all weekend. We start our fundraising campaign with the Macmillan Coffee Morning (Friday, 30 September), which is the 7th year we have hosted this event. It will be lots of fun as our theme this year is the Wild West, so don your cowboy outfits and join us at the Brewery Saloon! The weekend will conclude with the Tearooms opening on Sunday, 2 October and supporting the inaugural charity bike rides from Walkern, along with events for the family in the school grounds. See our Facebook and Twitter feeds for further detail.

This fundraising weekend is dedicated to anyone who has had a brush with cancer or been on, or is on,  the journey. If you’re in the ‘special club’, as I like to call it, it puts everything into perspective and helps us to appreciate the simple things in life.

All the funds raised this weekend will be shared between Macmillan and Cancer Hair Care.

We look forward to seeing you.

Summer Closing Saturday 30th July 2016

Vintage Summer 2016

Brewery Tea Room is in the holiday mood. We are serving iced Pina Colada tea and delicious raspberry and white chocolate meringues, freshly baked brie and bacon pastry turnovers with home-made coleslaw and deliciously squishy nectarine and amaretti tart. So even if the weather outside isn’t tropical, you can be sure of a little bit of sun in the Brewery Tea Room and a very warm welcome!

We will be closing for our annual break at the end of the day on Saturday 30th July 2016. This year, however, our August closure will be a little shorter than usual – due to popular demand – You asked and we listened! We will be re-opening a week earlier on Tuesday 23rd August at 9.30 and can’t wait to share some of the holiday spirit with you.
