Dear Customers and Friends,
It is with a heavy heart that we have decided to temporarily close the Tearooms from Tuesday, 17th March until further notice. This follows the advice of the Prime Minister and Chief Medical Officer that everyone should avoid all non-essential social contact in order to slow the spread of Covid-19.
We don’t feel in view of government advice that it is morally justifiable to encourage social mixing, which would be in direct contradiction to the advice being given. The health of our customers, friends, team and family is of the utmost importance to us. We are doing our best to keep all those close to us safe and trying to protect our loyal customers as well.
Although this is a difficult business decision, we understand the Government’s measures to reduce the risk to those at ‘high risk’ and the burden on the NHS. We feel obligated to support any measures that helps to achieve this
For the many valuable customers who have pre-existing bookings over the next two weeks, we will be contacting you within 48 hours.
We have been touched by people’s generosity in terms of wanting to postpone rather than cancel and generally support us as a small business. As you know the Tearooms has a great reputation as an important community hub. We, therefore, intend to launch a community video link to continue with community interaction and ensure anyone in need of help has the facility to ask for it.
As always, Nigel and I are committed to helping anyone who needs it and are available should any assistance be needed.
We hope it is not too long before we re-open our doors and welcome you back. We will post regular updates and no doubt talk to a lot of you over the forthcoming weeks. Most of all, please look after yourselves in these unchartered and unexpected times.
Sarah & the team. x
