A Roaring 1920’s Success!

Brewery Tea Room Macmillan 2015

Thank You to everyone who so kindly supported our sixth annual Macmillan Fundraising Day, last Friday 25th September, here at Brewery Tearooms.

For those of you who were unable to attend, it was a truly heartwarming day with fine weather for our 1920’s themed gala garden party.

Live jazz set the scene (so generously donated by George Howe – The Music Man) with flapper girls, ‘gatsby-suited gents’ and Victorian bathers all a feast for the eyes

The garden attractions included a giant bric-a-brac sale, bottle tombola, raffle, silent auction and ‘guess the mileage on the vintage sports car ‘. A steady stream of customers kept us busy all day and copious amounts of home-made cakes and scones were consumed.

Our ‘Best-dressed 1920’s outfit’ was a tie-break and there were many generous donations and lots of laughter.

In summary it was a fun-filled fundraising day and we are delighted to announce our total raised exceeds £3100.00, We are truly thankful to everyone who said ‘keep the change’, helped on the day, donated their time or a raffle prize, baked a cake, or generally supported the event. A special mention also to my wonderful staff who worked so hard before, during and afterwards and remained smiling throughout. Paul Gray who daringly sported a stripey Victorian bathing outfit (in case you didn’t recognise him on the day!) did a brilliant job on the raffle again.

Thanks again for helping to make our day a ‘roaring success’. The amount we raised will hopefully give comfort to someone suffering from cancer.
